Training In Japan

The Leadership and Staff at the Kenseido United States Headquarters Dojo have a long history of training in Japan, lending US Kenseido a unique authenticity. |

There has also been a long collaboration with the Japanese Shihan of Kenseido training with us here in the US. |
Synopsis
- Winter of 1984: Swart Shihan, after nearly 2 decades on the west coast, trains in Kyoto Japan.
- 1985: Masami Nakahashi Shihan came to the U.S., co-founded Kenseido in the U.S., and remained with us until 1990.
- 1985: Yukio Kanai also came to us, assisted Nakahashi and Swart in their mission and remained with us until 1989.
- 1987-1992: During this time we were visited by Emiko Narita Shihan (3 times), Koji Kuromochi sensei, Eiji Terubayashi Shihan, Shoji Nozawa Sensei, and Sato Sensei.
- 1990: Mike Allen and Tomas Joseft compete in full-contact Koshiki Tournament winning first and third place respectively, Tokyo, Japan.
- 1991: Swart Sensei trains at dozens of top Kenseido dojo in Japan, examines for Sandan in Edogawa, and assumes leadership of the U.S. HQ Dojo representing Japan.
- 1991: Warren Wood trains in Japan.
- 1993: Swart Shihan trains in Japan and examines for Yondan, Red Belt Shihan at the Kenseido master Instructors training camp, “Kenshukai” at Kawaguchiko, Japan, the first American to do so.
- 1993: Pamela Sensei trains in Japan and examines for Nidan, 2nd degree Black Belt in Edogawa.
- 1993: John Richardson, M.D. and Rand Arnold train in Japan.
- 1994: Hasegawa Tetsuo, Senmu Riji visits our Dojo and conducts advanced examinations.
- 1994: Yoshiaki Sakuma Shihan is sensei-in-residence at our dojo for three months.
- 1996: Swart Shihan trains in Japan.
- 1996: Jon Rada trains in Japan.
- 1997: Swart Shihan trains in Japan and examines for Godan, fifth degree red belt master instructor in Kashima, Ibaraki, Japan. .
- 1998: Adrien Ivan trains in Japan.
- 1997: Maasai Gyo Shihan was sensei-in-residence for two months.
- Toru Nagura earned his Shodan Black belt at our dojo and continues his training with the Dosyu-sensei at the Honbu dojo in Japan
- Koichi Kera also earns his Shodan at the U.S. dojo and returns to Japan.
- 1999: Von Shields shihan trains and examines for Yondan Kenseido master Instructors training camp, “Kenshukai” in Kashima, Ibaraki, Japan.
- 2000: Adrien Ivan examines for Yondan Kenseido master Instructors training camp, “Kenshukai” in Japan.
- 2006: Swart Shihan trains and examines for and becomes Rokudan, Kyoshi Shihan at the Kenseido master Instructors training camp, “Kenshukai” in Kashima, Ibaraki, Japan.
- 2007: First Red Belt Shihan examinations held in U.S.. Von Shihan becomes Godan, Pamela Swart & Neal Takamoto become Yondan.
